Take a look at the most common questions of our customers, as well as our responses, to learn more about our products, about purchasing our products, and about ISO 9001 implementation topics.
I see that your products can be configured. What does configuration mean?
All our ISO 9001 products can be configured to meet your specific requirements. You may choose among the following configuration options:
(1) Industry: choose between a version for manufacturing companies, service providers, or both.
(2) Company Locations: select the appropriate version depending on your company having a single location or multiple sites.
(3) Documentation Structure: you may choose if you want our templates to be structured and numbered according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard (and Annex SL), or if you prefer our unique and user-friendly process structure.
If this seems like a lot to choose from, don't worry, we also provide you with guidance on how to choose. Configuring your ISO 9001 product ensures that it will really fit your company's individual circumstances - because "one size never fits all".
I see the 9001Simplified logo and copyright message on all your samples. Can I remove them?
Yes! In fact, you are encouraged to replace our logo with your own company logo and information. Also our copyright message can be removed or replaced. There is no limitation on the extend to which you may modify our materials.
Can I contact you if I have questions about your products?
Of course! We pride ourselves with quick and personal responses from experts in ISO 9001 matters, and we will be happy to provide you with our customer service and advice whenever you need us. Please contact us anytime and we will be happy to assist you. We usually respond immediately but if your question requires more research or if we are out auditing, it may take a few hours.
How do your ISO 9001 implementation products help people like me who don't have a clue where to start?
The biggest problem of starting a new project like the ISO 9001 implementation is not knowing where to start and not knowing how the finished product should look like. However, we sure can help. Our ISO 9001 Certification Package is designed for beginners. Just follow the included "ISO 9001:2015 Certification Guide" step by step, and you will not only find it easy to start the ISO 9001 implementation but also reach ISO 9001 certification quite easily.
Are your products designed for small, medium or large companies?
All our ISO 9001 documents, forms and guides are ideal for small and medium size companies worldwide. We made specific efforts to develop ISO 9001 templates that eliminate bureaucracy and excessive paperwork. Many large companies, however, may require a bigger and more bureaucratic ISO 9001 system.
Many small and mid-size companies make the costly mistake and implement an ISO 9001 quality management system that is designed for a large company. This problem can occur when using outside consultants or when purchasing ISO 9001 quality manuals that don't fit the business needs of small and mid-size companies. Not with us! Our materials are specifically designed for small and mid-size companies.
Are your ISO 9001 procedures templates and forms specific to a particular industry?
Our ISO 9001 procedures and forms templates are suitable for any business organization (including non-profit organizations) in any industry worldwide. You may configure all of our ISO 9001 templates to make them fit your particular circumstances; there are many configuration options offered during the purchase process: for example, you may configure your product to be specific for manufacturing companies, or for service providers, or for companies that manufacture products and provide services.
I notice that your ISO 9001 Quality Management Manual includes a procedure on sales. Are all sales channels covered?
Yes, our procedures cover all sales channels, including, for example, proposals and internet sales.
Can you guarantee that we will achieve ISO 9001 certification with your templates?
Our unique templates, forms and guides have successfully led numerous offices and production facilities to ISO 9001 certification, and we are confident that they will lead you to certification as well. However, there are many factors that influence the outcome of an ISO 9001 certification audit, including the ISO 9001 documentation, the implementation, the available records, the competence of staff, as well as the background and competence of the auditor and the quality of the registrar. It would, therefore, be unethical to guarantee successful certification based on our materials alone. However, we can guarantee you that all our materials are fully ISO 9001:2015 compliant, and we back our claims with our Money-Back Guarantee.
Can you give me any references to call?
Are your templates, forms and guides suitable to implement ISO 9001 at a small manufacturing business?
Yes, our ISO 9001 templates, forms and guides can be configured for manufacturing companies (among several configuration options). This will make them particularly user-friendly for small and mid-size manufacturing companies.
We are a service company. Can we use your ISO 9001 products?
Yes, our ISO 9001 products can be configured specifically for service providers. That's just one of many configuration options we offer for all our ISO 9001 products.
Do your documentation templates mirror the structure of the ISO 9001 standard?
We offer our ISO 9001 documentation templates in two formats: process structure and standard structure.
Standard structure mirrors the structure and numbering system of the ISO 9001:2015 standard. It's ideal for those companies the want to integrate ISO 9001 with another ISO management standard (for example, ISO 14001) as all new ISO management standards now apply a common structure.
Our unique process structure, on the other hand, reflects a typical business process rather than the rigid structure of the ISO 9001:2015 standard. It's ideal for all companies that don't require the standard structure. The process structure makes your ISO 9001 documentation more user-friendly, more intuitive to use, and the ISO 9001 requirements easier to implement. Our unique process structure directly reflects the ISO 9001:2015 requirement for process approach, thus it reduces your audit risk. And lastly, ISO itself encourages such an approach.
Choosing between process structure and standard structure is one of the configuration options offered for our ISO 9001 products.
Does your ISO 9001 Quality Management Manual have separate sections for the quality manual and procedures?
Our ISO 9001 Quality Management Manual is a comprehensive ISO 9001 documentation template that includes and fully integrates the procedures and other documents required by ISO 9001:2015.
ISO 9001:2015 doesn't require a quality manual anymore. However, we still offer a separate quality manual which is primarily used for marketing purposes and to show off your ISO 9001 system to inquiring customers before you reach certification.
Are your manuals and forms ISO 9001:2015 compliant?
Yes, all our manuals and forms are regularly reviewed and revised to ensure that they are always up-to-date, that they incorporate the latest interpretations of ISO 9001, and that they are fully compliant with all requirements of ISO 9001:2015 (the current version of ISO 9001) on a worldwide basis.
What is "Online Training"?
Our online ISO 9001 training is in form of interactive courses that you take on your computer anytime and anywhere you have access to the internet. The course progress automatically adjusts depending on your learning progress. And you set your own pace: start and stop lessons whenever it's convenient, study as fast or as slow as you want, and repeat training lessons as needed. You can also switch between computers; for example, you can start your training in the office and then continue at home. Once you successfully completed your ISO 9001 training course, you will be issued a course certificate.
How does online training compare to traditional classroom courses?
Online training has several advantages over traditional classroom training:
- Inexpensive (private and group lessons are typically more expensive)
- Instant (you can start online training right after payment)
- Consistent (not dependent on factors like the mood of the instructor)
- Convenient (study at your location and according to your schedule)
Our online courses have been developed and fine-tuned by ISO 9001 experts to ensure high quality. The interactive feature of our online training is similar to a private instructor adjusting the course depending on the needs of the student, thus ensuring efficient learning.
I am in a hurry. When is the soonest that I can start my course?
You can start your online training immediately after purchasing the course. Within moments after payment you will receive an email with a license code which you will use to register for your course.
I would like to sign up 10 employees for an online course. Can they take the course independently? How does it all work?
Yes, your 10 employees can take their course independently and according to their own schedule. Let me explain to you how it works:
1) Purchase 10 courses on our website. The system will automatically apply a corporate discount.
2) You will receive 10 unique license codes (one for each employee) plus instructions per email.
3) Give one license code to each person taking the course, along with the registration instructions.
4) Each of the 10 employees can now independently register for their online course at their leisure.
5) Immediately after they register for their course, each employee can start learning - anytime and anywhere. They can pause and resume as they need, they can switch computers etc. Our system allows for up to 6 months time to complete the course.
6) Upon completion of the course, each employee will receive a course certificate which they may forward to you as evidence of training.
How can I track if my employees are taking their assigned ISO 9001 online course?
Every online course has a progress reporting feature. Simply ask your employees to send you progress reports so that you can track their learning progress.
Is there a time restriction on completing the course once I register?
Yes but you have much time. You need to complete the course within 6 months.
How do I know where I am in the course? How can I skip to a different lesson?
When you are logged into the course, click on the "My Training" button (bottom left-hand side). Click on "Outline" to see where you are in the course and to skip around to different sections.
What happens if there is a problem when taking the online courses? Is there support available after office hours?
Yes, we have customer support available by phone and email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to assist you.
What happens if I get disconnected from the internet while taking an online course?
Our system will remember the lesson during which you were disconnected. Once your internet is back on, please simply log back in. You will be taken to the beginning of the lesson you were studying at the time you got disconnected.
Is it possible to start the course at my work computer and then continue at home?
Yes, no problem. Our online training is completely web-based so that you can access your training account from any computer that has internet access.
Do I need a high-speed connection to the internet?
No, a high-speed internet connection is not necessary. Our online training works well on a low-bandwidth connection so that you can take our online training also in areas with limited connectivity. The training experience is the same no matter if you have a high-speed internet connection in your office, or if you use a slow connection while traveling.
How does the course certificate look like?
Please take a look at our sample course certificate.
Will you print my name on the course certificate?
Yes, we will print your name on the course certificate exactly as you entered during registration.
I noticed that my signature is required on the course certificate. Why is this?
Your signature on the course certificate certifies that it was in fact you who completed the course. Since online courses are taken by individuals without supervision, the individual taking the course needs to sign their confirmation that the person whose name is shown on the certificate is the person who completed the course.
Does your ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor course also cover lead auditor training?
No, our ISO 9001 auditor training is an internal auditor course that focuses on ISO 9001:2015 and on auditing.
Do you offer volume discounts if I purchase several courses?
Yes, we offer volume discounts starting at only 2 courses. The discounts are automatically given during checkout.
The "Introduction to ISO 9001:2015" and "Transition to ISO 9001:2015" online courses are discounted by up to $14. The "ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor" online course is discounted by up to $22.
What are "DVD courses"?
Our DVD courses are multimedia video presentations that teach ISO 9001 topics in an entertaining way that keep the viewer interested. DVD courses are ideally shown to a group of employees during a meeting but they can also be viewed individually.
How do DVD courses compare to traditional classroom training?
DVD video training has several advantages over traditional classroom training:
- Inexpensive (one DVD can be shown unlimited times to an unlimited number of people)
- Interesting (multimedia videos keep the viewer much more interested than simple presentations)
- Easy (anybody can present a DVD course, even without knowledge of the subject matter)
Our DVD courses have been developed and fine-tuned by ISO 9001 experts to ensure high quality. They are short, multimedia videos that keep the viewers' attention to ensure efficient learning.
I am in Australia, and I need a DVD course quickly. Will I receive it within one week?
Yes, that's possible. We ship within 1 day, we offer many shipping options during checkout (including expedited shipping), and we ship worldwide.
Do you have a demo version for your DVD courses?
We don't. However, we offer a money-back guarantee so that you can try out and review the full DVD course and return it if you are not completely satisfied.
Do your DVD courses work on DVD players in regions outside the USA?
Yes. There aren't any regional restrictions on any of our DVD courses, and we have never had any reports of compatibility problems.
Do I have to pay custom duties when ordering from outside the USA?
This depends on your country. International orders are declared at actual value, and the receiver is responsible for any custom duties.
Is there a course certificate for everybody who watches a DVD course?
Yes. Every DVD course comes with a course certificate that can be downloaded and printed out for each student. The person showing the DVD course will need to fill in the student name and sign the certificate.
Do you offer a license that allows us to add a DVD course and learning guide to our LMS or intranet?
Yes, we offer such a license for both the DVD course and for the learning guides as well.
The network license for a DVD course allows you to upload a particular DVD course to your LMS, your corporate network or your corporate intranet for the purpose of making the DVD course available to company employees (of the same company/organization) no matter where they are located. The cost of such a license is USD $1345.00 per DVD course. If you previously purchased the DVD in order to evaluate the course, we will deduct the cost of the DVD from the cost of the network license. Upon purchase of a network license for a DVD course, we will provide you with the course in MP4 format. Most modern LMS allow for conversion and import of the MP4 format but you may want to check with your IT personnel.
The network license for a Learning Guide is USD $99.00. Upon purchase of the network license for a learning guide, we will provide you with the learning guide in PDF format.
Please contact us if you are interested.
Am I allowed to copy your DVD courses to my company's intranet or file server?
Copying a DVD course would be a violation of our copyright. However, we offer a network license to upload a particular DVD course to the corporate network for the purpose of making the DVD Course available to company employees (of the same company/organization) no matter where they are located. The cost of such a license is USD $1345.00 per DVD course. Please contact us if you are interested.
Am I allowed to show a DVD course in a webinar or in video conference at my company?
Showing a DVD course in a webinar or video conference would be a violation of our copyright. With each DVD Course, you acquire the right to show the course at one physical location of one company/organization.
If you want to show the course at remote sites, please purchase additional DVD courses.
You may also consider our network license which allows you to use our DVD course in a company-internal webinar or video conference, or upload a particular DVD course to the corporate network for the purpose of making the DVD course available to company employees (of the same company/organization) no matter where they are located. The cost of such a license is USD $1345.00 per DVD Course. Please contact us if you are interested.
I noticed that the auditing DVD course is 30 minutes while the duration of the cheaper online ISO 9001 auditing course is 6 hours. What am I missing?
The online course and the DVD course are very different courses in terms of teaching method and in terms of learning objectives.
The online course is an interactive course that includes quizzes; its objective is to teach ISO 9001 requirements from the point of view of an auditor. As an online course, this course is taken by an individual.
The DVD course, on the other hand, is a multimedia presentation; the quizzes are separately included in the learning guide so the time of taking quizzes is not included in the course duration. The learning objective of the DVD course is auditing skills in general without teaching ISO 9001. As a DVD course, this course can be presented to an unlimited number of individuals and groups within the same company (you would want to purchase additional learning guides for all learners).
Do you offer a volume discount if I purchase enough learning guides for all of our employees?
Yes, we offer volume discounts on our learning guides to encourage you to get one for each of your employees (it really will improve their learning experience). You can get up to 40% volume discount. Discounts are automatically given during checkout.
Can I get a refund if I don't like what I bought?
Yes, you can get a refund. Please see our Money-Back Guarantee.
How can I purchase your templates, and how will I receive them?
All our ISO 9001 products are available through the internet for immediate download. After making your credit card payment on our secure and encrypted payment page, you will automatically receive an email with the download instructions. As additional payment options, you may chose PayPal or wire transfer (please contact us and we will provide you with the instructions).
Is the payment process secure and how is my personal information protected?
Do you charge any additional sales tax?
No, we don't charge any additional sales tax. You only pay the clearly displayed price of the product you purchase - nothing else.
Can you help me if I am not sure how to make the best use of your products during our ISO 9001 implementation?
We are always happy to help! All our ISO 9001 implementation products come with free consulting by experts in ISO 9001. In case you get stuck, in case you have a question or in case you need help, please contact us anytime and we will be happy to assist you. We usually respond immediately but if your inquiry requires extensive research, it may take a few hours.
Do your customer service representatives have a background in ISO 9001?
Absolutely! We do not employ sales people or run some sort of answering service; instead we have an expert customer service team with all members having at least 15 years practical experience in quality management, development of ISO 9001 systems, ISO 9001 auditing, management consulting, training and technical writing.
Once I order the ISO 9001 Certification Package, will it be evident how to start?
Yes, the ISO 9001 Certification Package comes with a step-by-step guidebook. Please start with this guidebook and follow it in the order presented.
We are a small distribution company with only 3 employees and without any manufacturing. Will we need thousands of pages of control processes?
As your company is a small distribution company, your business processes are few, and, therefore, your ISO 9001 documentation will be limited as well. You will still be required to have a quality policy and all procedures (though you can exclude the design section and several other sections that don't apply to you) but you will likely need only a few work instructions. This will make your ISO 9001 implementation rather easy and quick if you use our "ISO 9001 Quality Management Manual" (which is also included in the ISO 9001 Certification Package) as template. Also note that you can configure our ISO 9001 products specifically for service providers (among several configuration options), which will make them particularly user-friendly for you.
Our company is ISO 9001 certified but our ISO 9001 system is awkward and bureaucratic; we implemented it years ago for marketing purposes. How can we improve our ISO 9001 system so that our operations benefit from it?
Your situation is not unusual. Many companies use consultants to implement ISO 9001 solely for marketing reasons; these companies often get their ISO 9001 certificate but at the price of hurting their operational performance due to ill-fitting procedures and extensive bureaucracy.
I recommend that you consider our "ISO 9001 Quality Management Manual": it is designed for efficiency. You will be able to redefine and streamline your existing ISO 9001 system while maintaining those parts that have worked well for you.
How long does it take to get ISO 9001 certified?
It depends on you and your company. The fastest is 2-3 months because most registrars require at least 2 months track record of operating your ISO 9001 quality management system before the certification audit can take place. If you have a relatively small company (say, less than 20 employees), if your employees are motivated and don't oppose change, if you have the backing of all senior executives, if you and other managers are ready to put some time and efforts into this endeavor, and if you follow the step-by-step instructions included with our ISO 9001 Certification Package, you should be able to achieve ISO 9001 certification in as little as 3-4 months.
How much does it cost to get ISO 9001 certified?
It depends on the approach you are taking. Small companies that implement ISO 9001 in house using our ISO 9001 Certification Package may be able to get ISO 9001 certified for as little as US 3,000, not counting the time spent by you and your employees, but counting the cost of our materials and the cost of the registrar and certification audit.
How do we best prepare for an audit?
Based on our experience with countless audits, we prepared a comprehensive list of typical auditor questions (only available as part of the ISO 9001 Certification Package). Another excellent choice would be our How To Deal With External Auditors DVD course. We strongly recommend that you use one of these two products to prepare for your ISO 9001 certification audit.
Being a start up company, will we need several months of 'objective evidence' before we can attempt certification?
Registrars usually require 2-3 months worth of records in order to verify that the ISO 9001 system is implemented. As you are completing various implementation tasks, you are already generating those records. Your auditor may be satisfied seeing a 2-3 months history of most records, while other records have a shorter history. However, all registrars are different, so please discuss your circumstances with your registrar first.
I am very new to ISO 9001. What would you recommend for me to read as a starter so I can brief the boss on how and if we should proceed with ISO 9001?
I would start my research on the 9001 Council and on ISO's website. This will give you a good understanding of the standard, its benefits and its implementation without anybody attempting to sell you consulting services.
Better yet than briefing the boss may be a concise online course that is specifically made for your purposes. It's the ISO 9001:2015 Introduction online course.
What is the difference between ISO 9001, ISO 9000 and ISO 9001:2015?
The quick answer is “none”. All of these terms are often used to describe the current version of the ISO 9001 standard.
Prior to December 2000, there used to be an ISO 9001, an ISO 9002 and an ISO 9003 standard; without focusing on the technical differences between them, people would just simply refer to each as "ISO 9000". In December 2000, ISO 9001, ISO 9002, and ISO 9003 were all merged into a new ISO 9001 standard; the new ISO 9001 standard was then called "ISO 9001:2000" (indicating the year 2000 revision). The most current revision of ISO 9001 is the year 2015 revision, which is called "ISO 9001:2015". However, many people don't know about all the other standards that the International Organization for Standardization publishes, so they simply refer to the most famous standard (ISO 9001) as "ISO".
What is the difference between ISO 9001 certification and ISO 9001 accreditation?
There is no difference between ISO 9001 certification and ISO 9001 accreditation. Both terms mean that an independent organization confirms (certifies or accredits) that your ISO 9001 quality management system meets all requirements of ISO 9001:2015; this confirmation is evidenced by a certificate and may be referred to as ISO 9001 certification or ISO 9001 accreditation.
I am not sure if I should get certified to ISO 9000, ISO 9001 or ISO 9004?
The ISO 9000 family of standards includes the following (by the way, people often say ISO 9000 when they actually mean ISO 9001, or when they mean any standard within the "ISO 9000 family of standards"):
ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems - Fundamentals and Vocabulary: this covers the basics of what quality management systems are; it includes definitions. You cannot get certified to this standard.
ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems - Requirements: this is the only standard in the ISO 9000 family that provides the requirements for a quality management system. It is also the only standard in the ISO 9000 family to which you can get certified. The latest version is appended with ":2015".
ISO 9004 Quality Management Systems - Guidelines for Performance Improvements: these are guidelines that help you improve your quality management system above and beyond the requirements of ISO 9001. You cannot get certified to ISO 9004.
Who wrote the ISO 9001 standard?
The ISO 9001 standard was created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a Switzerland based organization consisting of representatives of about 175 nations worldwide. For more information, visit www.iso.org
What are the benefits of ISO 9001 certification?
The benefits of ISO 9001 certification (or ISO 9001 accreditation) are:
1) Operational improvement: ISO 9001 is an excellent tool to develop a strong foundation of good business processes and systems. Processes and systems are essential for the performance and expansion of any business. Quality improvements come along with this. Remember, ISO 9001 was developed as a real business tool to improve companies.
2) Marketing: The ISO 9001 certification can effectively used in marketing as it is a well-recognized certification of quality. Being an ISO 9001 accredited company shows your customers that you take quality seriously, that you are proactive and that you put your customers' satisfaction first.
3) Customer requirements: if your company provides products or services to other companies (especially to ISO 9001 accredited companies) or to the government, you may be required to be ISO 9001 certified; if your company does not have ISO 9001 accreditation, these customers may not want to be in business with you.
What is ISO 9000:2008 and ISO 9001:2015?
ISO 9001:2015 is the newest version of ISO 9001. ISO 9001:2015 was released on September 23, 2015 (thus the ":2015") as replacement for ISO 9001:2008. The ":2015" indicates the year 2015 revision; both ISO 9000 and ISO 9001 mean basically the same, though to be absolutely precise, the correct name is ISO 9001.
>> More information on ISO 9001:2015
Is ISO 9001:2008 a predecessor of ISO 9001:2015?
Yes. ISO 9001:2008 is the previous version, which was published in the year 2008. ISO 9001 was revised on September 23, 2015 and the current version is called ISO 9001:2015.
